All My Best Friends are Metalheads...

so yeah, went to the third round of the Breakaway Studios battle of the bands at the Bass Bar on Friday night. most of the bands sucked... except for Sobrusion. they were really, really good. but the bad thing about seeing a metal band is the metalheads. i just want to see the band play, not see guys with hair down to their lower-backs flicking it around and getting it in my face and eyes. i was like dodging peoples hair so it wouldn't get in my face... so annoying. whats with Wagga and metal anyways?

anyways, after dealing with metalheads all night, i get home and turn Rage on and its nothing but metal. although i did see the new
Killswitch Engage clip for "The Arms of Sorrow"... it was pretty awesome. watch it here if you want. so after a night of metal, it was 4am so i decided to go to bed as i had work to be at work at 10am... lame.

-------

never work retail. ever.

had to work all day today... 7 hours. had to deal with stupid people who had no idea what they were talking about and would get angry at me for their own idiocy. people suck! except for the people that i like... you guys are cool.
Luke was in at work, we chatted for a little bit. probably the most exciting thing that happened at work... yep, thats how boring it gets.

-------

was gonna get an Xbox 360 with
Forza 2 and the Wireless Steering Wheel from Harvey Norman today on that interest free crap and max out my credit. but no, they had to be n00bs and not have the Forza 2 pack in stock. and then some n00b, seriously, he had been working there for 2 days, tried selling me a core console... i'm surprised he knew what an Xbox 360 was. so that took up all of my lunch break, was so annoyed... oh well, now i might actually get some TAFE work done... but between work, MSN and Myspace, probably not.

--------

i'm so bored, but too tired to do any work.

-------

sorry for the slight ranting... i needed to vent.

The Good Times are Killing Me...

so yeah, i'm pretty dead. couldn't sleep last night so i decided to put on a movie and try to fall asleep. didn't quite go to plan. anways i pulled out my Pulp Fiction dvd and there was a layer of dust about a half an inch thick...

thats how often i rewatch my dvds... and you know, clean my room. it finished around 5am so i managed to get a few hours sleep before heading to TAFE.

-------

not too much has been happening, started to do some designs for exploit. need to do a couple more then i'll show them to him and let him choose, then i can finally start making the thing.

-------

i'm thinking i need to finally see Die Hard and Die Hard 2 very soon. Bruce Willis is pretty awesome.

-------

does any one actually get where most of the titles of my posts come from?

...if you figure them out i'll give you something special. they're not too hard to work out.

awesome like whoa, yo!

these websites are like the most awesome websites ever made on the interwebs!

http://www.hrodc.com/

http://www.wetestit.com/

thanks to my friend Adam for pointing these out to me.

-------

the safari 3 beta was screwing around with my iMac and kept making MSN crash. it was really annoying me, and annoying the people i was chatting to. so i just uninstalled it and went back to safari 2... not that i even use safari. firefox ftw! way to go Apple.

-------

meh. changed the template again... it looks okay... sorta.

These Things Take Forever, I Especially Am Slow...

hmm, its been a while, i got lazy. i thought i would start posting again starting from whats been happening since like April.

-------

so yeah, anyways, in the April holidays i went up to AGMF in Toowoomba again, for the third year in a row. Just Like Josiah and E.E.S were playing at the festival, and since im practically in JLJ i decided to go along, again. its seriously the best fun ever... 3 days of music, camping, friends, driving and other crazy randomness... love it. we left at like 5am on the thursday morning to make the 15 hour drive in one day, it was pretty crazy, but we had done it the year before, so it wasn't too bad. except this time we had a 13 seater bus, with 11 people in it, and all of our stuff. like the instruments, amps, bags, tents and other random crap... it was quite packed. the seats in the bus were like the most uncomfortable things ever... my butt was numb like 75% of the whole trip.

umm, its too long ago now to think of any stories or anything... im boring like that. but i do have links to photos.

my photos are here.

faith's photos are here.

i can't find the link to tim's photos.

-------

also it was my 22nd birthday in april. another year older, another year of not knowing what to do. like i have friends who are married, buying houses, have good jobs doing what they want to do and are all successful and what not. but here i am, working a crappy job i don't like, studying at tafe and not having a clear idea on what i want to do with the rest of my life.

anyways, i gots some money for my birthday of various people, so i bought a Nintendo DS and its pretty awesome. takes up a fair amount of my time... along with Guitar Hero.

-------

so yeah, not a lot has happened in May and June so far, haven't gone anywhere, nothing really interesting has happened, its just meh. how i spend my time lately goes something like this...

Guitar Hero
more Guitar Hero
MSN
Myspace
hanging out with friends
Pheonix Wright on the DS
more Guitar Hero
Work
even more Guitar Hero
more MSN
more Myspace
then a little bit of TAFE work

its bad. too many distractions lately. i need to stop playing Guitar Hero so much and spend less time talking to someone on MSN and Myspace...

i've been feeling really unmotivated in doing any TAFE work lately. and its really bad, i know i want to pass, but just at the moment i dont really care. and then if i don't pass this year it'll just be a waste... again.

holidays are soon. maybe thats what i need.

-------

my awesome photographer friend from brisbane, faith, finally got a website. so check it out for some awesomeness. i mean she uses helvetica neue ultra light, how can it not be awesome.

www.faiththiang.com

speaking of faith, she's finally coming down to visit wagga in the holidays. it's gonna be awesome... can't wait. its like the most i've seen her. ever.

faith, you need to send me some more black and white prints... do it!

-------

my friend dylan in the uk has been doing his thing again and did the new Just Like Josiah website. i'm pretty sure he used joomla... i should talk to him about all that stuff since he seems to be in the know.

he'll back in australia in a couple of months... haven't seen him since like January 2006 so it'll be good to see him again.

colour mafia is the design studio that he and his wife meg run. check out their site... its pretty cool. it also uses century gothic, so you know its gonna be good.

http://www.colourmafia.co.uk/

http://www.justlikejosiah.com/

-------

thats sort of my life for the past couple of months. next couple of months involve holidays, faith visiting, going to sydney hopefully and doing TAFE work, like the website for exploit and of course work... because i gots to get paid.

-------

random thoughts:

thinking about growing a beard. what do you think?
i might put up some mp3s onto this thing, because i like music.
tattoos. i made up my mind, im getting one this year.
i need to stop going to bed at 4am and waking up at 8am... it can't be good.
i want an Xbox 360.
i'll start blogging more, even if it is random pointless crap.
i really, really wish i was brisbane this past weekend... Brand New... twice!
why aren't there any good movies on at the cinema?
Portugal. The Man are sweet.
Bright Eyes are brilliant... but make me so depressed.

meh

changed the look of the template a bit... its kinda crappy, i'll fix it later if i could be bothered.

Grind House Premiere photos

i'm in debt, but i'll worry about that later

Been a while since my last post, and Adam wont shut up about it so I thought I'd post something and shut him up for 3.75 seconds.

Still been really busy, especially this week, since I'm working everyday except Thursday. Then theres TAFE work, TV shows/movies to watch, Zelda to play, some design/photography work to do and friends to hang out with, but its good that I'm busy, and working... money is good.

So yeah, The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past was released on the Virtual Console for the Wii last week, and since I've been obsessed with Zelda lately its what I've been playing and its pretty awesome. I haven't played it before, so its been good, and difficult. I find it funny that I was more excited about playing a 15 year old game on the day that the PS3 was released.

On other random news, my shirts from threadless were shipped the other day, they should be here soon. Only 6 days now until we go to AGMF, can't wait... 16 hour drive in a 12 seater van with 10 other people... should be interesting.

I had McDonalds for dinner tonight... now my car smells like quarter pounder.

Some stuff I think is cool:

http://kongregate.com/games/pixelate/understanding-games-episode-1?
http://kongregate.com/games/pixelate/understanding-games-episode-2?
http://www.dobi.nu/

Finally, I did something slightly stupid today, I bought this...
My old CRT was on its way out and annoying me so I wanted a new one.

Now I just have to pay for it... and get a Xbox 360 or PS3 to enjoy some HD goodness. But it does look pretty freaking sweet in my room.

anyways these are the designs i got.

Paperboy

Nerds Unite!
they're pretty cool, i like them.

a weekend in the dust

The weekend has been too busy, good, but really busy. Haven't had a chance to post anything 'til now.

Friday night I went and watched JLJ record some stuff for their upcoming CD/Demo/EP/Album/what-ever-they're-calling-it... and like most recording sessions it was mostly fun with moments of boringness (when people were actually recording) but I still enjoy observing and being involved in the process. I also finally got to meet their new sax player, Hollie, she's pretty cool. I then went home and watched some new shows 'til 4 in the morning... like "Raines" and "Andy Barker P.I." (I'll post something about these later).

Saturday, I woke up around 10.30 to be at work at 11.30, and it sucked... well it wasn't too bad, can't really remember what I did at work that day. Anyways, I finished work at 3.30 and went straight to Dusty Days, and got there just in time to see JLJ play. 'Twas a good day, but I'm still cut that i missed E.E.S because of stupid work, oh well, not like I haven't seem them play a billion times before, and not like I will never see them play again. On the plus side they finally had their album for sale so I had to buy that. It's a good feeling seeing the final finished product of something you've helped create, it was just photos, but it looked good.

After that I just hung with my friends, ie. everyone from JLJ and E.E.S, it was pretty cool, didn't do much, just sat around in the shade, watched Brett and RJ go on the dodgem cars, that was kinda fun, but not really. Watched Bliss 'n Eso for a bit, they were ok, they're good at what they do, but im not a huge fan, even though they did sample large chunks of Gnarls Barkley and Kanye West, which was kinda cool. Then I caught one song by Faker, they were boring, that is all. Then I watched most of The Herd (I left to get a cream-filled waffle, it was nice), they were really good, hadn't really heard much of them before but it was still good, I enjoyed them. Then there was Thirsty Merc... they sucked, no more needs to be said. Then after that was Something for Kate, they were also really good, but they started to bore me by the end of their set.

So, after that we decided to go to the after party at The Saloon, and after waiting around the front for a good 40 minutes or so they finally let us in, and then they finally got the free drinks organised... too bad I had to drive home and work sunday. I eventually got bored and was tired so I left.

Then sunday, I went to work at 12, again, it sucked, but meh, money is money. I then went home and bummed a bit and slept, then went to watch the cricket at RJ's at around midnight, Australia vs. Netherlands, and well Australia won quite convincingly. I only stayed for Australia's innings, so i got home around 4.30 am, but didn't sleep 'til 5.30 am. Then i had to be up at 9 am to be at work by 10 am. I slept in a bit and was a little late, and by a little late, I mean I clocked in at 10.01 am, I don't think they'll mind. Surprisingly I wasn't all that tired.

So yeah, that was my pointless post about my weekend. Exciting stuff, huh? Anyways, next post will have more to do with design/tafe stuff.

come out and play-ay with wario... or something

this is all sorts of awesome

was done by this guy.

keep your hands off my girl...

well not really, as I don't have a girl.

Anyways, just wanted to comment on what I have been listening to lately. Mainly its been 'Neon Bible' the new album by Arcade Fire. I just think its an awesome album, kind of an extension of what they did on 'Funeral', maybe not quite as good, but as an album its quite solid, and I enjoy some tracks more than some of the ones on 'Funeral'. It has been on repeat in my player for about a week now, I can't get enough and I absolutely love the song "No Cars Go". They also have an awesome site for the album here.

I've also listened to the new album by Air called 'Pocket Symphony' a fair bit, which isn't as good as their others but is still a decent effort apart from a couple of tracks. Some tracks remind me of 'Talkie Walkie' not that thats a bad thing, but I still didn't mind it.

Also listened to the new Bright Eyes EP called 'Four Winds'. I think its good, there is a couple of tracks I really like. I need to listen to it more carefully to form a better opinion of it. Hopefully his new album is good.

I'm also really looking forward to the new Modest Mouse album 'We Were Dead Before The Ship Even Sank'. Only heard 3 tracks off it, but I love "Dashboard" even if it is a bit poppy and trendy, but I think I like that side of Modest Mouse more, which probably doesn't make me a very good Modest Mouse fan.

Well thats it, I'm going to go watch
The Black Donnellys... will post something about that later if I could be bothered.

ps. I don't condone the listening to Good Charlotte... ever, that song is just hilariously bad, and the new album is simply terrible. That is all.
